PS5 vs. XBOX Series X: Which One To Get?

PS5 vs. Xbox Series X: In this article, you’ll find the simplified comparison of specs, game, price, and design.

After 7 whole years, Sony released its latest console PS5, that took the market by storm, but so did the Xbox Series X! For almost 19 years, these two have been the strongest, and potentially the only rivals (especially true until Nintendo Switch) of each other. And for good reason, gave each other a tough time. are the only ones that set the bar higher.

On the other hand, Xbox has been pretty consistent with its same-gen releases. Having different consoles come out from time to time, also with slight improvements in each. However, it’s next-gen Xbox Series X could turn out to be a game-changer in this world of gaming consoles! (And for the Xbox franchise.)

Even though both Sony and Xbox have digital editions in the market as well, we won’t be discussing them in here. As for now, it’s just these ‘talk of the towns’. But with that, we’d also want to know about your opinions regarding which one’s do you prefer and why, and have a discussion with fellow Famers.

PS5 vs Xbox Series X: Specs

To be quite honest, there isn’t much of a difference (read much), as they are competing against each other for the same spot. The list of specs features is below:

Xbox Series X Specs

CPU: 8-core, 3.8-GHz AMD Zen 2-based processor

GPU: 12-teraflop AMD RDNA 2

Storage: 1 TB NVMe SSD

Max Resolution: 8K

Max Frame rate: 120 FPS

Memory: 16 GB

PS5 Specs

CPU: 8-core 3.5 GHz AMD Zen 2

GPU: 10.3-teraflop AMD RDNA 2

Storage: 825 GB custom SSD

Max Resolution: 8K

Max Frame Rate: 120 FPS

Memory: 16GB

Comparing the two of these on the basis of this list, Xbox is a step ahead in terms of CPU, GPU, and Storage. However, this doesn’t necessarily indicate better performance. It’s too soon to say anything about that now. But there definitely are other factors that must also be taken into consideration when announcing one as best.

PS5 vs Xbox Series X: Price

They’re exactly the same in terms of price (perks of being competitors as expected by competitors). Each one is for $500. But at the same time, Sony and Xbox offer other consoles at a lower price point than these ones. In Which the PS5 digital edition costs about $400 but Xbox Series S (Digital) costs $300. Though PS5 digital is the same as PS5 when it comes to specs but Xbox Series S is quite different from Series X.

PS5 vs Xbox Series X: Design

PS5 Design

The design is probably the only thing that’s completely different from one another. The PS5 design, as compared to Xbox Series X is far modern and futuristic. Its size is also pretty big as it is the largest console ever designed by Sony. PS5 gives the feeling of a bigger router.

Xbox Series X Design

This console is quite short in size as compared to PS5. Not meaning that it’s small in size. And it’s body is entirely made up of Mattel black. It looks like a slab, or a speaker, or a box! If someone who isn’t well into consoles, won’t be able to tell if it is one.

Despite the differences in design, people have mixed reviews on both. So it really is just about personal preferences and taste.

PS5 vs Xbox Series X: Games

PS5 Games

When it comes to games PS5 has clearly won. Sony released there exclusives like Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horizon II: Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7. Though some of them are also available on PS4 like Spider-man, Miles Morales. But nonetheless, these games are really good.

Xbox Series X Games

Xbox isn’t so up-to-date with new exclusive titles as is Sony with each of its releases. Although it is that Microsoft bought a few studios, however, the Xbox games yet are just either updated versions of older games or just are more optimized. There isn’t an exclusive released alongside Xbox Series X which is quite a bummer to be honest, because after all how would you really enjoy the new console when you don’t have any new exclusive games with it. Though few new games like Halo Infinite, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, Forza Motorsport 8, State of Decay 3 will be releasing late December but not at the time of launch.
